Can I use a different lamp in my high-intensity discharge (HID) fixture?

No, the components used in an HID fixture are power consumption-specific. A metal halide (MH) lamp can only be used in a fixture with a MH ballast. Their fixtures use industry-standard lamps that can be purchased from most local retailers.
