Starting with Live for Speed version 0.7A, they have opened up their vehicle editor to the public, so anyone can create vehicle mods. You can get it from LFS's download page and there is no track editor that is more complex than the vehicle editor. It might launch in the future, but they don't have concrete plans yet.
There won't be LFS to Linux or Mac OS X these days, as it would take a huge effort and a long time to do so, and since their dev team is only 3 people, they simply don't have the manpower to do that. The time they spend creating the port could be better used to improve the sim itself. However, it should be possible to run it with the Windows emulator Wine, although they do not provide support for any issues you might have.
You can purchase an S3 license through LFS's website and see the "Store" section. They accept credit/debit cards, PayPal, Moneybookers and UK cheques or international money orders for payment. If you don't have a credit card or can't pay via PayPal, some organizations can also make purchases via regular bank transfer. For localized points of sale, see their "Purchasing a License" page.
